Online GDPR training course for professionals
Handling personal data is part of everyday business, which means every employee needs to know how to get it right. Our GDPR awareness training helps teams understand data processing rules and stay compliant with GDPR regulations.
Compliance is about protecting sensitive information and building trust. With simple online training, you can make sure your business meets its GDPR requirements and avoid the risks that come with getting it wrong.
An online course is a fantastic way of delivering training on important topics such as GDPR and data protection.
The course content is delivered entirely online, requiring only a computer and stable internet connection to engage with the video lessons and interactive assessments.
With a mix of videos, quizzes and interactive slides, your employees can learn in an interactive, engaging way at a time that suits them.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) sets the rules for how organisations handle personal data - and understanding it is essential to protect your business and your people.
Our GDPR online training course gives learners a clear view of the regulation, covering the key data protection principles like transparency, fairness and lawfulness, with practical tips for applying them.
When it comes to the general data protection regulation, your people need to know how to handle personal data properly. In 2024, UK organisations were fined around £2.7 million for data breaches—mistakes that often come down to human error.
That’s why employee GDPR training matters. It helps protect your business from fines, reputational damage and confusion. In fact, companies with good security awareness training are 8.3 times less likely to show up on public data breach lists.
The best part? Training can be done quickly and gives a clear, easy-to-follow overview of GDPR.

What is GDPR in plain english and how is it different to the Data Protection Act?
GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is a Europe-wide law that was brought in to give people more control over their personal data. It lays out the principles businesses need to follow, like keeping data safe, using it fairly, and giving people access to it.
Even after Brexit, the UK kept these rules and now follows a version called UK GDPR – it’s pretty much the same as the EU one, just adapted for the UK.
The Data Protection Act is a UK law that works alongside GDPR. It fills in some of the blanks that GDPR leaves, and adds a few extra UK-specific rules.
You can think of it like this:
🔐 GDPR = The big rulebook for handling personal data
📘 The Data Protection Act = The UK’s guide on how to apply those rules in real life
In plain english, these regulations are there to ensure:
Organisations only collect the data they really need
Data is kept safe and secure
Businesses are open about how they use their data
Companies don’t keep data longer than necessary
People can always request to see the data that is held about them by a business
How will we know if our staff have taken and understood the General Data Protection Regulation course?
Our GDPR training course includes a comprehensive assessment to test learners’ understanding of the GDPR and its principles. The assessment is designed to evaluate learners’ knowledge of the GDPR, including data protection principles, data subject rights, and data breach procedures.
Upon completing the course and passing the assessment, learners will receive a certificate of completion, demonstrating their understanding of the GDPR and its requirements. The certificate is recognised by the data protection community and can be used to demonstrate an organisation’s commitment to data protection and compliance.
In Breathe Learn, you'll be able to see which employees have taken and passed the course and when, plus when they're due a refresher.
